We have marine cranking and deep cycle batteries as well as all types of motorcycle batteries.

Here is some information on motorcycle batteries;

Conventional “Maintenance Type” Battery

Conventional Batteries

  • Made up of Lead plates immersed in Sulfuric acid. 
  • The sulfuric acid reacts to the lead and generates voltage.
  • As this happens the lead plates erode and leave sulfur deposits in the battery, “Sulfation”. 
  • Regular lead acid batteries need a topping charge using a “Battery Tender” to reverse sulfation and extend battery life.
  • Conventional batteries have a vent on the side so you need to check the battery at regular intervals and keep the water level within specifications. 
  • Never add sulfuric acid to an already charged activated battery!
  • When acid level is down add distilled water to bring it back up to correct level.   

AGM BATTERY

Maintenance Free AGM Battery;

  • Two types of these batteries;
  • Factory activated – filled and activated, always ready to go.
  • Dry with acid pack included in package – needs to be filled and activated.
  • The sulfuric acid is absorbed by a very fine fiberglass mat, making the battery spill-proof.
  • This means the battery can be installed in multiple locations.
  • Never open maintenance free batteries or try to add water or acid, it can explode! 
  • They have a relatively long service life, even when deep cycled (run at constant loss). 
  • AGM batteries can sit in storage for longer before a charge becomes necessary but use of a “Battery Tender” will extend and even double battery life. 
  • AGM batteries stand up well to low temperatures and are used on all new 4 stroke snowmobiles.

Lythium Ion Battery

  • Light weight versatile replacement battery.
  • Very little or no self-discharge when not in use.
  • Able to mount in multiple positions with left or right side negative/positive terminal options.
  • Requires special Lythium Ion battery charger!
